Recently we assisted our long-time partner Campbell Scientific move to a new, larger space to accommodate their rapidly expanding business. Although they were moving just a few minutes away in North West Edmonton, completely dismantling, then reassembling the components of Campbell Scientific's network over a short time period was a complex task. Our technical team leveraged our tools and experience to fully scope, document and plan the move to ensure minimal downtime and a seamless transition to the new space over 3 days.
In preparation for moving day, a technical architect performed an assessment of the server room with asset tagging and extensive documentation of existing network configurations so the network hardware would not have to be reconfigured from scratch at the new site. Because of this thorough preparation, on moving day the server room was reassembled quickly, efficiently and earlier than expected.
The onsite IT manager, Kevin, was also well prepared for the move and already had the workstations disassembled for the movers. In addition, he provided pictures of the various work areas so our technicians were able to quickly and easily reassemble the workstations in the new cubicles. Although there were some minor issues planning the workstation installation around furniture assembly, using our familiarity with their IT environment and good planning, we were able to set up all the workstations for the start of business on Monday morning.
In case there were any post-move issues on Monday, the team was onsite to provide support for users, ensure that the network was installed and functioning properly and to provide Peace of Mind that any issues resulting from the move could be resolved swiftly.
As a result of our thorough planning and extensive experience, the onsite IT manager could have Peace of Mind that his office would be fully functional when the users arrived to their new space at start of business on Monday morning. We received some fantastic feedback on this smooth transition - the network came back online sooner than expected and how the assistance of our knowledgeable, experienced technical team in "the right place, at the right time" allowed the onsite IT manager to focus on other aspects of this complex office move. Said Kevin, "Thank you for giving me the confidence to be able to tell my boss No problem, we'll be ready in time".
