Today's Office 365 launch was laser focused on productivity plus collaboration as the key drivers of this new technology. Microsoft has done an amazing job of re-branding BPOS (Microsoft Online Services) as 365, but it's much more than a re-brand when you look under the hood.
This new Microsoft Office 365 suite combines the server-side solutions such as Exchange, SharePoint and Lync with the familiar client experience (Word 2010, Excel 2010, PowerPoint 2010, etc.). In effect, these software tools are now able to realize their full potential, because while most of our clients have the software to run this, they simply haven't been able to afford the server-side software required. The barriers are gone, and a new era of cloud-based computing is now available for SMBs. Hosted cloud infrastructure is rapidly becoming a commodity, and we couldn't be happier to be a part of it and do our part to shed unnecessary servers in for small and medium-sized businesses.
