A couple of days ago we announced that Fully Managed™ had achieved our Gold level competency in Virtualization, and I'd like to personally thank Rob King of Microsoft for his thoughtful words:
"The recent achievement of our Gold level competency in virtualization, by Fully Managed™, is an indication of many things. First, it shows their dedication to ensuring that they have a premium skill set for deployment of Microsoft’s latest infrastructure technologies. Second, it is a leading indicator of the interest that small and mid-sized businesses are showing in Microsoft’s virtualization solution and finally, it validates our recently revised partner program’s objectives to allow our most dedicated technology partners to differentiate themselves in the marketplace. We applaud Fully Managed™ for their commitment to their customers and to Microsoft." -Rob King, Director, Partner Strategy and Programs, Microsoft
Every week, it seems like I meet with another business or technology decision maker that asks me something like "Are you really using Microsoft Virtualization?" or "I heard that Hyper-V sucks." I can say quite confidently to those individuals that it's time you and your team took another look. We've completely converted our entire data center infrastructure, our private cloud, from VMware to Hyper-V. The results for us have been incredible - amazing reliability, performance and unmatched ROI.
Off the back of that success, we started looking at our extensive SMB client base in Vancouver and Edmonton, looking for new opportunities for virtualization (e.g. aging server infrastructure) or upgrade opportunities where virtualization was already in play (e.g. VMware infrastructure). As of March 2011, we've successfully deployed about 40 Fully Managed™ client environments under Hyper-V and we've seen the same results we saw in our own data center. Success!
While VMware still leads Microsoft and other virtualization platforms are still prevalent (we support them too, by the way), we are committed to Microsoft in this space and I am confident that in due time, Microsoft will win. We have invested heavily in our technical team to make sure we are the best at deploying this technology in Western Canda. We are the definitive experts and we can deploy this stuff with our eyes closed. As a final thought, from the Matrix... Agent Smith on VMware (Mr. Anderson) "You hear that Mr. Anderson?... That is the sound of inevitability... It is the sound of your death... Goodbye, Mr. Anderson... "
